What Is UL 2272 Certification?
UL 2272 is the nationally recognized safety standard for electrical systems in personal e-mobility devices, including electric scooters. Developed by Underwriters Laboratories (UL Solutions), this certification evaluates the complete electrical system of an e-scooter—not just individual components.
A UL-2272 certified electric scooter has undergone rigorous third-party testing to verify that its battery system, electrical drive train, and charger meet strict fire safety and electrical safety requirements. This is the standard that New York City requires under Local Law 39.
Unlike cheap, unbranded scooters flooding the market, every Inokim model sold at our Manhattan store carries legitimate UL-2272 certification—meaning you can ride with confidence, store your scooter in your apartment, and bring it into your office building without issue.
